ebola-outbreak-in-ugandaThe Lagos State government is appealing to striking doctors to resume work and help the government contain the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus disease that has affected seven persons in the state.

At a press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Health Dr. Jide Idris, who also called for volunteers, said more hands were needed to take care of infected patients and also track those who had contact with victims.

He promised that the government would meet any demand of the health volunteers, as their safety would be secured.

The Ebola Virus has started spreading in Lagos after a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, was diagnosed with the virus last week before he died on July 25.

Another death of a nurse that treated the Liberian was recorded on Wednesday.

The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, said that five other persons had also been diagnosed of the virus and that the government was doing its best to contain the spread of the disease that has killed over 800 persons in Liberia.
