JonathanThe Kaduna State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Goodluck Jonathan and the State Governor, Mukhtar Yero, asking them to contest in the 2015 presidential and governorship elections.

This comes as all political parties in the country get close to conducting their primaries.

Making the declaration during the party’s stakeholders town hall meeting on Saturday, the stakeholders from the 255 wards in the state said that they were impressed with the leadership style of Governor Yero and the PDP led government in the country, hence the need for the party to give the two leaders a fresh mandate to continue their good works in 2015.

The Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna metropolis, venue of the meeting, was filled to capacity with delegates drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The State Governor and his deputy, PDP national and state officials, serving and past state and National Assembly members, past ministers and other notable chieftains of the party, gathered to appraise the performance of the Federal Government led by President Jonathan and that of Kaduna State, under Governor Yero.

At the end, they unanimously resolved that the two leaders have done well in bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people, and therefore should be the party’s sole candidates for the presidential and governorship elections.

The Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Abubakar Haruna, moved the motion for the endorsement and the endorsement had the blessing of State and National Assembly members who were elected on the PDP platform.

With the endorsement by the delegates, it appears that both the President Jonathan and the Governor Yero might have little hurdles to cross in securing the ticket of their party that would enable them contest in the 2015 election.
