ATTAHIRU JEGAOfficials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have promised to correct lapses experienced during the issuance of the permanent voters card in Abuja and some other parts of the country.

The Director, Voters Registration at the Commission, Mr Emmanuel Akem, who spoke to journalists in Abuja assured that no eligible voter will be denied of exercising his right to vote in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.

He said issues of poor logistics, faulty machines and delay in the issuance of the card will be addressed without any delay.

The distribution of the permanent voters registration cards was conducted by INEC in 11 states of the federation and the federal capital territory.

Besides these hiccups experienced, others think the commission is not doing enough to sensitise majority of Nigerians who live in the rural areas on the need for voter registration.

But officials of the independent national electoral commission seem to have noted all of these concerns raised.they promised a better outing in the next phase of the distribution of the permanent voters card and its continuous voters registration exercises.

Successful voter registration is key to the conduct of a free and fair elections.many Nigerians are hopeful that the words of INEC will be matched with action to avoid the disenfranchisement of eligible voters in the next general elections
