PatientPatients at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTH‎C), Ile-Ife, Osun State are appealing to the Federal Government to speed up talks with the Nigerian Union Of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) and bring an end to the five-day strike embarked upon by the unionists.

Although‎ activities at the hospital complex seems on-going but a visit to the Physiotherapy Department, the Microbiology, Chemical Pathology, Radiology and medical Laboratories shows a hundred percent compliance to the National directive, as patients are being sent back without attending to their needs.

Speaking to Channels Television, Chairman of NUAHP,OAUTHC chapter, Isaac Adewuyi, said the Union will not rescind it’s decision unless a contrary decision from the National headquarters is issued.

He stressed that all affected departments will remain closed to patients unless government yields to the full implementation of the agreements reached with NUAHP.

The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals had directed it’s members to commence an indefinite strike last week Thursday to protest among other things the review of the method of appointing medical directors, promotion of many of their members and review of retirement age.
