Despite the decision to allow him and others with presidential ambition to collect the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential nomination and Expression of Interest forms, the son of the Former Prime Minister, Abdul-Jelil Tafawa Balewa has dropped his presidential ambition.
This was stated by Tafawa Balewa after a meeting with an elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clerk in his residence in Abuja
He had earlier expressed his intention to contest the presidential primaries on the platform of the PDP against the decision of the party to allow President Jonathan the right of first refusal.
Chief Clark, however, condemned the attitude of some governors who want to go to the Senate and others who insisted on nominating their successors.
He said that such act would bring about a one sided electoral process right from the party primaries.
The elder statesman also went on to condemn the actions of some governors who refused the sale of nomination forms for those who had aspired to become delegates for their ward.
