The Kwara State Government is set to make funds available to artisans in the state to drive the economy and ensure economic growth of the state.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed disclosed this on Wednesday while receiving members of the Kwara Artisans Congress at the Government House, Ilorin ahead of the first anniversary of the congress.
The governor stressed the importance of artisans in the economy a and promised to ensure that youths were appropriately empowered to become entrepreneurs with a view to driving the economy.
He identified the group as one of the most important components of Kwara Economic Society and promised to ensure that youths were not dependent on white collar jobs but become entrepreneurs so as to gain financial freedom.
Governor Ahmed promised to continue to create enabling environment for artisans and various groups to enhance socio-economic growth of the state.
Earlier, the State President of Artisan Congress, Abdullahi Lanky, who spoke in Yoruba language, acknowledged the support of Governor Ahmed to artisans in the state, pointing out that the loan extended to the group had made positive impact in their lives and businesses.
