obama_ebolaThe United States has asked the Nigerian government to investigate the increasing suicide bombing in the north-east and punish those behind it.

In a statement on Wednesday by the US embassy in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, the American government pledged that it would continue to support Nigeria as it battles to end the acts of terror in the north-east.

The US is also worried about the uncertainty of the casualty figures in recent attacks.

It condemned in the strongest terms the suicide bombings in Gombe, Bauchi, the most recent attack in Potiskum, Yobe State  and others that have occurred within the last one month.

The mission offered its condolences to the injured, and the families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks.

After a ceasefire agreement was announced by the Nigerian government on October 17, there have been series of attacks and suicide bombings in different states in the north-east, defiling all claims of any possible agreement and negotiations.

While declaring his intention to run for a second term in office on Tuesday, President Goodluck Jonathan pledged his administration’s commitment to ending the acts of terror in the north-east.
