The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, has received the All Progressives Congress’ Presidential Nomination Form bought for him by some of his colleagues in the House.
After he received the form, Tambuwal told reporters that he was still consulting and would let Nigerians know if he would run for presidency in the 2015 general elections.
He thanked his colleagues and explained that the purchase of the form was as a result of his performance as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“I must say that this is almost akin to what happened in 2011. After our general elections and I returned to Abuja after the elections, my colleagues in the House and some some Nigerians after the consideration for us to have a stable, focused and progressive House of Representatives decided that i should come and serve as the Speaker. To God be the glory that with every sense of humility, we have done fairly well so far.
“What you have identified as a trait of leadership in me is coming from the way we have been able to manage the House of Representatives,” Tambuwal said.
“I have accepted to collect this nomination form and go and conclude my consultations and come back to Nigerians soonest on what should be my final position on this matter”.
Honourable Tambuwal defected to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic on October 28 citing political developments in his state. After the statement, there were rumours that he had interest in the governorship seat of his state.
Spokesman for the Speaker, Mallam Imam Imam, on Thursday confirmed the purchase of the nomination form in a text message to Channels Television.
“Earlier today, some friends and political associates of the speaker notified him that they have bought the forms for him,” he said.
