al-makuraGovernor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has announced a dusk to dawn curfew in Lafia, the state capital.

Mr Al-Makura announced the curfew through his Chief Press Secretary after visiting some parts of Lafia Metropolis, Tudun Kauri, Shabu and Kwandere where houses were destroyed and lives lost.

The curfew,which starts from 6.00 PM to 6.00 AM, is part of security strategy to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the state.

He also gave a brief background of the crisis which started from Alakio on Saturday night when Fulani herdsmen allegedly stormed the community to retrieve about 200 cattle earlier rustled.

Seven persons suspected to be Ombatse militia were killed by a rival group of Kamberi tribes in Lafia on Monday afternoon, following heavy gun battle.

About seven persons were admitted to the Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital on Monday morning from the renewed violence after three Eggon boys were killed at Shabu, a suburb of Lafia.

Eyewitnesses  in the area accounted that some Ombatse militia came attacking residents living around Namu Clinic on UAC Road, Lafia the state capital.
