Pandemonium broke out on Monday at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) office in Lagos, as the congress meant to select new delegates for the party’s primaries became rowdy.
The Police fired gunshots, tear gas to disperse the unruly party members and to prevent a total breakdown of law and order.
The Police also arrested some people believed to be party thugs.
The Lagos State chapter of the PDP, had rescheduled the canceled delegates congress to November 24th.
The Congress is taking place in the 245 wards of the state.
Chgannels Television’s Political Correspondent reports that there is a heavy presence of Police and DSS operatives at the secretariat of the Party in Ikeja.
