Musa_Kamale“As far as we are concerned in Adamawa State, no primary election took place up until this moment I am talking to you,” a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Musa Kamale, said on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, alleging that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were airlifted to Abuja for the PDP governorship primary.

Mr Kamale said on Monday that he was the spokesman of the PDP delegates in Adamawa State and insisted that the primary election conducted in Abuja contradicts the laid down conditions for such elections to take place.

“Kangaroo Election”

“Remember the conditions that are laid down in all the three guiding documents – the party’s constitution, the party’s primary guideline and the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

“They all showed one thing. You cannot conduct a primary election for any position, whether governorship, house of Assembly, Senate or House of Reps, unless you conduct it in the headquarters, in the constituency district for the Senatorial District or House of Representatives and in the state capital for the governorship. Article 26 of the PDP guideline clearly stipulates that.

“Electoral act section 87 sub sections 1, 3,4,7 and 9 are very clear and categorical about the conduct of primary elections for whatever elective positions to take take place in that constituency,” he said, dismissing the result of the election that was held in Abuja.

Mr Kamale questioned the mode for the conduct of the “Kangaroo election” held in Abuja, explaining that none of the authentic 678 delegates of the Adamawa State PDP went to Abuja for the so called primaries were at the venue of the primary election.

“People were just picked from the APC street hawkers, what have you

“I have on record, APC members that were airlifted from Yola by Mass Air to participate in the so called kangaroo primaries.

“Nine hundred persons were supposed to participate in that primaries, but only 500 people were airlifted and the balance were taken from Nyanya, Gwagwalada and anybody on the street who wanted 5,000 Naira was taken to the venue of the so called primaries,” he said, insisting that a new election should be held in Adamawa, as stipulated by the documents guiding the conduct of governorship primary elections.

He alleged that the authentic list of delegates put together and handed over to the Senator Bala Adama committee was doctored by the committee, removing over 300 names to favour a particular aspirant.

A Legal Adviser of the PDP in Adamawa State, Sam Zadok, supported Mr Kamale’s claim, saying that the election held in Abuja was all programmed to force Nuhu Ribadu on the people of the state.

“The people of Adamawa State are very angry with President Goodluck Jonathan, for not intervening in the situation.,” he said.
