FasholaThe Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has commended the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members who contested the governorship primaries of the party in the state.

Mr Fashola gave the commendation on Friday when he hosted a meeting of the governorship aspirants.

The Governor, who spoke at the Lagos House, Ikeja, urged the aspirants to rally round the party’s flag bearer, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for the campaigns ahead.

He noted that there was a need to build the team for the Governorship candidate.

“The candidate has to get on the road from yesterday. And nothing would be more enabling and more intimidating for the opposition than to see all the aspirants together with the winner,” he said.

Fashola noted that it was a matter of managing time, stressing that once or twice; the aspirants should find the time so that they can give the flag bearer the needed push to go forward with the campaigns.

He congratulated the candidates for making Lagos proud with the way they conducted themselves during the Lagos APC primaries adding that it served as push for the bigger convention of the APC at the national level which also turned out to be a success.

He stressed that many of the Presidential candidates borrowed a leaf from the way the Lagos aspirants conducted themselves, adding that he was yet to learn from any state where there were as many as 13 contestants in a delegates election in the current dispensation where there were no bickering.

Governor Fashola said that all of them embodied the spirit of excellence.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Henry Ajomale, thanked the aspirants for the spirit of sportsmanship that they displayed during and after the primaries.

He said that since the process had been concluded, what was left was for everyone to rally round the flagbearer, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, to ensure the success of the party at the 2015 Governorship polls.

Those in attendance at the meeting include the APC flag bearer, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode; his Deputy and Secretary to the State Government, Dr (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule; Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; former Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Tola Kasali; Senator representing Lagos West, Senator Ganiyu Solomon; former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Supo Sasore; Mrs Adetokunbo Tobun-Agbesanwa, Mr Abayomi Sutton and Mr Lanre Ope.
