Boko Haram

Boko HaramThe Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah has said that terrorism, a global security threat, is not meant to start and end in Nigeria alone, as many other countries of the world have had to contend with the same challenge in recent times.

The Nigerian Army Chief stated this at the graduation ceremony of 151 officers of junior Course 78 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State.

The officers, drawn from the Army, Navy and Airforce, had been through 21 weeks of intense training and academic activities.

The objective of the course was to develop the professional knowledge and understanding of selected officers of the armed forces in order to prepare them for increasing responsibilities both in staff and command appointments, commandant of the college, Air Vice Marshal John Ifemeje explained.

Addressing the graduating students, General Minimah noted that much was expected from them in the effort to eliminate all forms of terrorism in the country.

He tasked them to be prepared for any responsibilities that may be assigned to them especially now that the country is being confronted with the Boko Haram security challenges in the north east and other criminal activities across the country.
He further charged them to be of good behavior and work collectively with their colleagues in the field towards winning the war against terror.

A total of 151 officers including 59 army officers, 45 Navy, 28 Air Force officers and 11 non military students, were given the award of Passed Junior Staff Course Certificate(PJSC).

Ifemeje further disclosed that the junior course curriculum had been reviewed in view of the current security situation in the country and its attendant asymmetric nature.

He also reminded the officers of the challenges ahead of them and the need for them to make use of their experience in dealing with such challenges.
