PoliceAn eighteen year old, Chukwujekwu Oranezu, from Umunze in Orumba South local government area of Anambra state, has been arrested and paraded for snuffing life out of his benefactor, Mr. Remi from the same community, with a pestle as well as stealing his 500,000 naira which the suspects says is for spending during this Christmas.

Parading the suspect alongside eleven others and four corpses at the Headquarters of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Awkuzu, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hassan Karma, who warned youths that engage in criminal activities to desist as the police in the state are better equipped to track down criminals anywhere.

The Commissioner of Police paraded kidnapped suspects whose kidnap attempt, was foiled but not without four suspects meeting their Waterloo. Also paraded was sixty five year old mother of a suspected kidnapper, Mrs. Grace Offor, whom the Commissioner said was arrested for not only having in her possession some marked money which was part of the ransom paid to the kidnappers, but also for her role in taking care of victims in incarceration as well as serving as their cook. Her kidnap suspect son is still at large.

The last group of criminal suspects also paraded was armed robbers who have been on the wanted list of the police but luck ran out of them when they were arrested and in their possession were seven cartons of dynamites which they claimed were for sale. The state police commissioner commended the support his command has been receiving from the state governor, Willie Obiano, in crime fighting and said this year’s Christmas was one of the best.

In a similar development the Navy and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have made remarkable progress in ridding the state of oil thieves and drug peddlers. Tasked with the responsibility of maintaining security and safety of life along the lower River Niger, men of the Nigeria Navy at Onitsha Naval outpost have arrested a suspect with thirteen drums of adulterated AGO as well as impounding one hundred and fifty kilograms of substances suspected to be Marijuana from suspects who fled at the sight of the security agency.

The commander, Navy Captain Mike Oamen, handed over the drug substance to the representative of the NDLEA and the adulterated AGO to the representative of the Nigerian Securities and Civil Defense, NSCDC.

In a stop and search raid in Awka, the NDLEA also arrested over seven persons involved in the sale and consumption of Marijuana. The NDLEA commander, Sule Momodu, however, warned youths to desist from drug related activities as it would do them more harm than good.
