Super EaglesThe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the senior national team, Super Eagles, will face Bolivia in an international friendly at the newly built Akwa Ibom Stadium on March 26.

This came after a friendly with the Brazilian national team, earlier scheduled for the same date, was cancelled.

The Confederation of Brasil Football (CBF) had said that they would prefer to continue with their European World Tour rather than truncate their calendar to play against the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and its FIFA match agent, Jairo Pachon, then opted for Bolivia to ensure that the international friendly window is not wasted.

In a statement on Friday, the NFF said, “We have had to work at a pace to seal agreement for this match, after the Brazilian Football Federation opted out at the last hour.

“However, we believe that the Bolivia team will give the Super Eagles a good match, as we continue to work on a second match for the Eagles for either 29th March.”

The statement by the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, also revealed that Nigeria’s general elections which coincides with the the second match day of the FIFA window – March 29 – has necessitated the need to organise a match away from home.

This is because there would be restriction of movement during the election period across the country.

Therefore, a top ranked African team is being targeted for the Sunday match day.

“The NFF is committed to ensuring that the Super Eagles are occupied on every FIFA window, with quality games,” Pinnick added.
