kwara stateThe Kwara State government in the last four years has embarked on the construction of 72 major road projects after completing the inherited 34 from the previous government.

This achievement in road rehabilitation and construction covering nearly 800 kilometres informed the support by the people for the second term of the governor.

The people however, urged the governor not to be deterred by the non remittance of funds by the Federal Government to stop him from extending the magic wand to the federal roads in the State.

Roads rehabilitation and construction is one of the priority of the government of Abdulfatah Ahmed’s administration since almost four years ago as part of the state’s project.

The governor usually inspects the projects and offers necessary corrections where necessary to ensure they meet the quality standards and specifications.

Since coming to power nearly four years ago, the government has completed the 34 road projects inherited from the previous government and nearly completed the 72 initiated ones.

Mr Amuda Alabi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works said this is aside the 58 rural roads to link different communities totaling 800 kilometres of roads completed so far.

The motorists and people of  Kwara state showed appreciation to the government for the road maintenance which they noted has made motoring smooth but however urged the government to extend the same to federal roads.

The Permanent Secretary of Kwara State noted that the government will not be deterred by the non remittance of funds expended on the federal roads adding that five at every communities, additional federal roads have been earmarked for rehabilitation.
