Defending champion of the Channels National Kids Cup, Toyibat Primary School, Gbagada, will play Al-Farouk International School in their opening group B game of the Lagos Preliminaries.
At the draw ceremony in Lagos, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Steve Judo, told representatives of the 32 approved schools that this year’s edition of the football competition will give attention to talent discovery and development.
According to Judo, “Channels Television has been organizing this football tournament since 2009, and we are glad that it keeps getting bigger and better every year. Our aspiration is to make it a model for developing grassroots football in Nigeria”.
Last year losing finalist, Ebute-Metta Primary School are drawn in Group A and will play their first game against Anwar-ul Islam Primary School. Pampers Group of Schools, UNILAG Staff School, Abjoel, Royalbells and Donmen Schools are some of the teams in the group.
Army Children School, 2014 semi-finalists, Dr. Teslim Elias, St. Paul’s Anglican, The Tenets School, Excel Immaculate, Green Haven and Dorcas Memorial School will compete in group B.
The Lagos Preliminaries will be played from March 17 – 20 at Campos Square Mini Stadium and Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island.
