Card_Reader_For_Election-in-Nigeria-AccreditationThe accreditation exercise in Nasarawa and Benue States have been very peaceful so far, Channels TV correspondent reports.

In Nasarawa State, sorting of election materials and accreditation has begun as residents turned out across Lafia, the state capital to elect leaders of their choice.

While some polling units were yet to start accreditation at about 8.30am, most polling units in Lafia have receive election materials with accreditation process going on.

The streets of Lafia and INEC office in the state is well manned with men of the Nigerian Police, providing the needed security support to complement INEC’s bid to conduct peaceful and credible elections.

A Polling Officer in Lafia town, Samson Ejike, said that card readers would be strictly used for accreditation process as directed by INEC, to ensure transparency and accountability.

Also in Benue State, accreditation exercise has been very peaceful according to Channels TV correspondent, even as it was one of the major flash points identified by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

In Makurdi, Logo and Guma Local Government Areas (LGA), accreditation started by 8:00am.

The atmosphere in Makurdi has been very peaceful, security men are on the streets patrolling and the turnout of voters in the 3 LGAs are on the high side. In Guma LGA, many voters turned out for the accreditation exercise and the card readers are working perfectly in all the polling units.

There have not been any incident recorded so far and voters are excited with the process.
