INECYobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and others for conducting a peaceful election across the country.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote in Bukarti town of Yunusari Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Saturday, Governor Gaidam said INEC, security agencies, the media and observers played a commendable role towards the huge success recorded during the exercise.

“I want to commend all the stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the exercise and want to believe that if INEC continues like this, online elections in the country would soon come into effect” Gaidam said.

On the chances of his return as the State Governor, he said his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would record a “landslide victory, and he will return to his seat overwhelmingly”.

The Governor, while commending the use of card reader also stressed that INEC personnel seemed to have mastered the use of the technology which according to him, was faster on Saturday compared to the presidential and the National Assembly elections.

He also showered praises on the timely dispatch of INEC personnel and election materials for the exercise and hoped Nigerians would utilise the knowledge acquired from the 2015 elections in future polls.

Governor Gaidam further commended the people for turning up en masse for the exercise and attributed it to the relative peace being enjoyed across the country.
