EkitiThe candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11 governorship election, Mr. Okey Ezea, has called for the cancellation of the election, which produced the Governor-Elect of Enugu State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Mr Ifeanyi, according to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), polled 282, 277 votes, while Mr Ezea polled 43, 839 votes.

However, Mr Ezea described the election as a charade, marred by police intimidation, ballot snatching and other forms of violence.

He called for outright cancellation of the election and urged INEC to fix a new date for the election.

The Governor-Elect, however, responded by a street tour of Enugu, the State capital, insisting that it was the only way to show that he won the election having campaigned vigorously and secured the confidence of the electorate.
