KanoThe Kano State Police Command has paraded 48 persons who were allegedly involved in ballot box snatching during the just-concluded Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Parading the suspects, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, said that a former commissioner during former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau’s tenure, Mr. Musa Iliyasu, has been declared wanted after running away from the Police who were ordered to put him into custody for allegedly sponsoring the action in some parts of the state during the elections.

Mr. Iliyasu, who has been accused of mobilising youths to disrupt electoral process including snatching of ballot boxes at Madobi, the home town of Governor Kwankwanso, is currently at large.

According to the police, items recovered from the youths include ten ballot boxes filled with ballot papers, result sheets, card readers and some dangerous weapons.

The Police command, in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said it would head to court on the matter in accordance with electoral law.
