jonathanThe Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday offered special prayers to mark the 5th anniversary of President Jonathan taking over the leadership of Nigeria as substantive President.

The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, who is also an ordained Minister in the Anglican Communion, and the Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, offered Christian and Muslim prayers respectively.

President Goodluck Jonathan was sworn-in on 6th May 2010 by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, following the death of late President Umaru Yar’adua.
President Jonathan said, “On May 6, exactly five years today, I was sworn-in as substantive President.”

President Jonathan has served the country in different capacities, aside from being a one time Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State in the South South region of Nigeria, he was also Governor of that same state.

He also served as Vice President of Nigeria and with the passage of his former boss, Mr Umaru Musa Yar’adua, the Senate activated the Doctrine of Necessity paving the way for his swearing-in as the President of Nigeria.
