JonathanThe incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari has to continue with the noble projects that will benefit Nigerians, especially residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

President Goodluck Jonathan gave the advice after the inspection of some key projects executed by the administration in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The President, who expressed satisfaction with the level of completion of the projects, said that the FCT has done well.

He said that he would have inspected the projects earlier but for some other challenges facing the administration during the period, adding that the visit has enabled him to get first hand information about what to tell the incoming President about the projects.

The 10-lane airport road now named Umaru Musa Yar’adua Expressway, after his predecessor who performed the ground breaking in 2009, was President Jonathan’s first port of call.

The Federal Government sees the road as another bold step in the country’s march towards vision 20-20-20, for which quality infrastructure will be a critical element.

The 10-lane expressway, awarded at the cost of over 1.7 billion dollars has saved residents of the FCT and visitors the chaotic traffic situation on the airport road.

The project is said to have reached 80% completion and meets the standard of good roads anywhere in the world.

President Jonathan also went to Idu to inspect the Abuja rail mass transit revolution which commenced in 2009.

When completed, it will serve as the main transportation for people within and between the satellite towns and the different parts of the city.

The outer northern expressway known as Kubwa Expressway was the President’s last port of call. The project is said to also be 98% completed and can compete with any good road anywhere in the world.

Those who have followed the Abuja master plan have said that if properly followed, Abuja would become a place of pride for all Nigerians.
