House of Representatives receives National Conference reportPresident Goodluck Jonathan has sent the National Conference Report to the National Assembly for consideration 48 hours to the end of his administration.

President Jonathan in a letter addressed to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives said the report of the conference needed to be forwarded to the National Assembly for legislative consideration and approval.

The report had been considered and approved at a Federal Executive Council meeting in March.

He explained that the forwarding of the National Conference Report to the National Assembly was sequel to a resolution to that effect at the Federal Executive Council level on March 18 when the report was considered and approved.

The conference held last year had delegations from the six geo-political zones of the oil-rich nation.

For over three months, the conference considered different issues needing attention and at the end made recommendations that are expected to move the nation forward.

The delegates looked at the political formation of the nation, insecurity, revenue sharing formula and others except issues bothering on the unity of the nation with diverse ethnic groups, which the presidency said was a no go area.

President Goodluck Jonathan will be handing over to a new administration on Friday led by a former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari.

General Buhari defeated President Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election.
