PetroleumFive petroleum host communities in the Niger-Delta, South-south Nigeria, have urged the incoming members of the eighth National Assembly to give a speedy consideration to the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

The communities who are hosts to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), Jones Creek flow station operated by Nest Oil made the call in Warri, Delta State.

They lamented that the bill had suffered setbacks on the floor of the outgoing seventh National Assembly.

The people also announced their decision to vacate the flow station which they had shut down during their last protest at the facility.

Members of the communities expressed the hope that when passed into law, the bill would not only restore sanity in the oil industry, but also ensure meaningful development of the host communities.
