The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been holding a meeting with elected members of the party in the House of Representatives.

The meeting is an attempt to reach a consensus on who emerges as Speaker in the 8th House of Representatives.

It has around 182 members and is being held behind closed doors in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

Senior members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) called to resolve issues concerning the zoning of top offices in the incoming majority party in the National Assembly but ended in a deadlock about two weeks ago.

The meeting reportedly came to a deadlock on account of the tussle between leaders of the Northeast and Southwest for the office of the Speaker.
