Obiano Meets Industrialists, Seeks Solution To Recession

AnambraSeven communities in Anambra East and West LGAs will benefit from the 42km stretch of road under construction from Aguleri, with a 200m bridge at Odene River to link Iyiora Anam in Anambra West and the rest of the state to the oil producing areas of Anambra North.

This was disclosed by Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, during an inspection tour of the ongoing road and bridge projects in Aguleri and Anam on Monday.

Governor Obiano also revealed the interest of investors to site industries and real estate in the lands in the area which would boost the economic growth of the state.

Both Anambra East and Anambra West LGAs are in the riverine location and therefore, are strategic to the economy of the state as well as the host communities of the oil wells which made it an oil producing state.

With the road and bridge construction aggressively being pursued, Governor Obiano during the inspection tour, expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of construction.

He also expressed pleasures at the jobs that had been created for about 800 skilled and unskilled residents, who were employed at the construction sites.

The contractor, Bassam Ali-kaawach, who observed that the construction of the Odene Bridge was technically challenging due to the flow of the Omabala River, also pledged commitment to a quality and speedy project.

Leaving Odene Eziaguluotu Aguleri River project site to Iyiora Anam in Anambra West LGA where a seven kilometre road with a 180m bridge construction was ongoing, Governor Obiano brought attention to the benefits of the road to the predominantly farming communities, as well as the new industrial and housing investment that were in the offing.

The contractor, Johnny Nasir, expressed optimism that with the quality of construction of the road and bridge, flooding would no longer affect the people as it did in 2012.
