Honourable Dogo Emerges Speaker Of 6th Yobe State AssemblyThe immediate past Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Honourable Adamu Dogo has been re-elected Speaker of the Assembly.

At the inauguration of the 6th Assembly on Monday in Damaturu, the state capital, the member representing Karasuwa Constituency emerged speaker after his nomination by the Member representing Tarmuwa constituency, Honourable Usman Adamu.

In a similar development, a Member representing Fika Constituency, Honourable Ibrahim Kurmi, was nominated unopposed for the post of the Deputy Speaker.

Honourable Kurmi’s feat was coming after a nomination by the former Deputy Speaker, Honorable Auwalu Bello.

The proceedings of the House were chaired by the Clerk of the House, Mohammed Alkali, who administered the oath on the Speaker and his Deputy.

Speaking after his emergence, the Speaker expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to always consider the interest of Yobe State above any other interest.

Honourable Dogo further assured that he would lead the House to the best of his ability, adding that the House would continue to work harmoniously with the Executive Arm in providing meaningful programmes to the people.

He called on the staff of the House to accord members the needed support in the discharge of their legislative functions.

Shortly after the inauguration, the speaker led members of the House on a courtesy call on Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, where they pledged their outright loyalty to the Governor’s administration.

Governor Gaidam, receiving the legislators at the Council Chambers of the Government House, appreciated the cordiality existing between the Legislative and the Executive Arms.

He expressed hope that such cooperation would continue to wax stronger for the overall development of the state.

The 6th Assembly comprissd of 24 members in which 22 are from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has two members.

Also in the Assembly, seven members were newly elected while the remaining 17 were returnees.
