Boko Haram in chadSecurity forces in Chad have seized a large weapons cache in a house in the capital, N’Djamena, occupied by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.

The weapons, which include guns, rockets and other ammunition, were buried under the courtyard of the house in the eastern neighbourhood of Guinebor.

They are reported to be destined for northern Nigeria, where Boko Haram terrorists have launched a wave of attacks in recent weeks, despite suffering heavy military defeats this year.

A Chadian investigator, who asked not to be identified, said that they were weapons that Boko Haram’s Logistics Chief for northern Cameroon and Chad, Mr Baana Fanaye, was preparing to send to Nigeria.

Chad has played a leading role in a regional offensive against the armed group this year, in parallel with forces from Nigeria, Cameroon and Niger.

It was recently reported in a statement that Chad’s military has carried out series of air strikes against Boko Haram bases in Nigeria.

“Our defence and security forces will hunt down without mercy these terrorists without faith nor law so that spilling the blood of Chadians will not go unpunished,” a military official had said.
