Wike Asks Rivers Tribunal To Nullify APC RequestRivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has asked the tribunal in the state to nullify a decision which granted the All Progressives Congress permission to inspect materials used for the April 11 governorship elections.

The Rivers State Governorship Tribunal had earlier gave a verdict, granting the APC and its governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside, the permission to inspect electoral materials used for the just concluded governorship elections.

Counsel to Governor Wike, Emmanuel Ukala, told the tribunal on Monday that it lacked jurisdiction to make the order, insisting that any order made by the tribunal was a nullity and should not have been granted.

However, Counsel to the APC, Akinjide Olujimi, opposed the application on the grounds that it did not follow laid down procedure, noting that there were other parties in the case.

The APC has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State of conspiring with the Peoples Democratic Party, to prevent the decision of the tribunal from been carried out.

Having listened to all parties, the tribunal fixed July 9, to rule on the application.
