The Edo State Governor has promised to review the way the Sickle Cell Centre in Benin City is being run with a view to making it more effective for the sufferers.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole made the revelation on Thursday in a meeting with feuding stakeholders of the Sickle Cell Centre in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Oshiomhole promised to set up a board to manage the centre within one week, noting that the development was in line with the review process.
In another development, the Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aihanuwa Eregie, explained that it was not in the interest of the sufferers for the Sickle Cell Centre to become another hospital.
She explained that becoming another hospital would make it render substandard services, observing that it lacked full complement of staff.
