Yobe Residents Commend Army Chief's VisitResidents of Yobe State, north-east Nigeria, have praised the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai, for his three-day working visit to the state.

They pointed out the civil-military relationship being strengthened to enhance partnership against terrorism, as one of the reasons for their gratitude.

Besides improving civil-military relationship, they stressed that the Army Chief’s visit had further boosted their confidence that security forces are determine to subdue the terrorists.

Some of the residents in Damaturu, Yobe State capital, also said Buratai’s presence with the troops on ground was enough morale boosters to the troops in restoring peace in the troubled region.

They expressed hope that the visit would enhance the deployment of more troops and military hardware to the troubled area to fight the terrorist.

They also praised the Army Chief’s decision to clear the Damaturu-Biu road of any further attack by the insurgents.

A member representing Yobe State in the House of Representatives, Honourable Bukar Goni, affirmed his confidence in the Army Chief and urged other well-meaning people of the state to accord security operatives the desired support.

The Army Chief had visited the troubled state to celebrate Sallah with troops fighting the Boko Haram insurgents in the region.

He said his presence would stimulate military-civil relationship, adding that his new position would afford him the opportunity to assess the equipment on ground and to evaluate the level of the threat posed by the Islamist militants.
