Abdulfatah Ahmed-on-kwara-health careThe Kwara State Government has restated its commitment and readiness to the provision of affordable healthcare facilities to the people of the state.

The State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, disclosed the development of the state in Ilorin, the state’s capital, while declaring open a two-day Kwara State Community Health Insurance Research and Advocacy Conference.

According to him, the new agreement under the scheme would see the state covering one million enrollee by the year 2019.

The State Government emphasised that the community health insurance scheme is to gulp sixty-seven million Euro within the next five years.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Peter Kisira, Governor Ahmed stressed that his government had expanded the community health insurance scheme to cover 13 Local Government Areas with the payment of 60 per cent of the premium subsidy.

Governor Ahmed who hinged the attainment of the universal health coverage to adequate funding of health care delivery services, called on other State Governments to provide quality health care to the people through effective and efficient health insurance.

Also speaking, the Emir of Shonga, Dr Haliru Yahya expressed gratitude to the State Government for prioritizing healthcare delivery and commended the development partners in supporting the government to provide affordable healthcare service delivery.

The monarch assured that the traditional institution would continue to be advocate for efficient healthcare delivery to enhance the well being of the rural dwellers.
