Team Tombim, featuring former national champion, Henry Atseye, overpowered Team Anambra 6-1 in their second round robin match of the NCC Tennis League at the Abuja National Stadium tennis courts.
Henry Atseye beat Nnaemeka Achusim 6-2, 6-1 while Moses Michael beat Augustine Nwokedi 6-1, 6-2 in the first singles matches.
In the reverse singles, Henry Atseye defeated Tochukwu Ezeh 6-4, 6-2 and Moses Michael beat Chimezie Onyejiaka 6-2, 7-5.
The Anambra team fought back to win the men’s doubles where Achusim and Nwokedi beat Christian Paul and Onyeka Mbanu in three sets.
Sarah Adegoke came through a difficult first set to beat Lovette Donatus 7-6, 6-2 and the pair of Paul and Christie Nwankwo wrapped up the tie sets victory over Achusim and Donatus in the mixed doubles.
The NCC Tennis League, which is offering a total prize money of 11 million naira with the winner taking home five million naira, is currently in the round robin phase.
The competition is being sponsored by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
