The former President was speaking in Abeokuta on Tuesday while playing host to the immediate past Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Mr Ade Abolurin, who paid him a courtesy call in his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

After 10 years of meritorious service to his fatherland as the Commandant General of the NSCDC, it was indeed time to come home and show appreciation to those who have made his service worthwhile.

After a meeting with the Governor, Mr Abolurin and his entourage moved to the private residence of former President Obasanjo who eulogised the leadership qualities of the retired Commandant.

The former President stressed the need for the leadership of the civil defence to effectively build on the principles of patriotism and professionalism.

He also urged them to provide adequate protection for physical infrastructure left behind by the retired Commandant General.

The former Nigerian President said that Mr Abolurin had turned the fortunes of the establishment for better despite the many challenges.
