Muhammadu-BuhariPresident Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Defence to join the 13-man investigative committee to probe the procurement of hardware and ammunition in the Armed Forces.

The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Aliyu Ismaila, told State House correspondents after he led others to brief the President of his ministry’s activities at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary said it was sometimes in the past that the ministry was involved in the arms procurement, noting that the task was however later transferred to the services.

Mr Ismaila said the nation’s service chiefs, immediately after their decoration, had been working hard to meet the three months deadline given to them by the President to end insurgency.

He further noted that terror is alien to Nigeria and that judging from the President’s background, the target will be met.

He maintained that Nigeria has assisted sister countries in peace keeping, adding that there is no reason why the Nigerian Armed Forces will not defeat insurgency.
