Dan_NwanyawuThe former National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Dan Nwayanwu on Tuesday urged Nigerians to allow President Muhammadu Buhari fulfill his campaign promises in “his style and his pace”.

Speaking on Sunrise Daily, Mr Nwayanwu said “the President has so far attempted to give directions and Nigerians are aware that somebody is sitting there” adding that “we have to let him use his style and his pace”.

He, however, decried the age of officials that the President has appointed so far, maintaining that “some more young blood who are in a hurry to develop this country need to be injected into the administration to guide the President in making the right decisions for the country”.

Mr Nwayanwu maintained that the president has been gone for too long and must be given time to crawl before walking.

“President Muhammadu Buhari left government since 1985 and he has just come back, so he has to learn the ropes again.

“He must keep himself abreast of what is happening in every ministry and every parastatal in government. Apart from the fact that he has saved us money, let him know what is on board everywhere”, he said.

Mr Nwayanwu also took a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC), on whose back the President rode to power, to “stop defending the indefensible” because the “campaigns are over and it is time to deliver”.

He further chided the party for taking glory for the efforts of the Goodluck Jonathan-led regime alleging that “there was a lot of sabotage.
“I expected the APC and the candidate to be prepared for this job, but I also share the view that they did not expect victory, which came their way so easily”, he said.

The former Labour Party boss argued that Nigerians would be asking for too much from President Buhari if they expect him to him to get going without evaluating the state of the government when he took over from the previous administration.
