akwa ibomThe Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the state capital, has rejected an attempt by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidate, O’tega Emerhor to tender election documents they brought to the Tribunal through an official of the electoral body.

At the resumed hearing of the petition on Friday, the Counsel to the APC and Emerhor while challenging the victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, in the governorship election, moved a motion to call in a witness, who is an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).

The petitioners had asked the Tribunal to admit the witness to tender unit by unit election results of the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.

The results sought to be tendered in court are forms EC8E and EC8D.

However, objections were raised by the counsel to the Governor, PDP and INEC urging the judge to reject the documents as evidence, stating that unit result has nothing to do with both the compilation and declaration of Results.

The hearing has been adjourned till Monday the  September 7, 2015.
