ogbodoThe Editor, The Guardian On Sunday, Abraham Ogbodo, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Day speech as “straight to the point”.

He was speaking on the special Independence Day edition of Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.

Mr. Ogbodo agreed with the President’s view that Nigeria is rich in resources but needs to manage its resources.

“Nigeria has been so rich in 55 years but could be rich and poor and that is the summary of what the President said.”

President Buhari, in his speech, commended former President Goodluck Jonathan again “for not digging-in in the face of defeat thereby saving the country untold consequences” and Mr Ogbodo believes that it has become important for Nigeria to have the desire to stay together.

Analysing what could be done fundamentally for Nigeria to stay together, he opined that there should be a desire by Nigerians to show that Nigeria does not want to be divided.

Data and Information Analyst, Babajide Ogunsanwo, who was also on the programme, commended the President’s emphasis on the war against Boko Haram.

Referring to the sect as one that has turned Nigeria into a stadium filled with dead people, he stated that the war against insurgency has to be concluded as promised by the President.

He expressed confidence that going by the President’s Independence speech and comments on insurgency, there would be an end to the war soon.
