air forceOfficers of the Nigerian Air Force in Kaduna, North West Nigeria, on Saturday (October 3) embarked on a 10 kilometre walk and jogging exercise.

The Air Officer Commanding, Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force in Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Wakili Ahmad, said that the exercise was to help the personnel maintain mental soundness and physical fitness, especially at a time the country was facing the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.

Represented by the Senior Air Staff Officer, Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Anebi, he said that physical fitness, mental soundness and discipline of officers and men remained the hallmark in military training.

Speaking at the end of the exercise, he congratulated the officers for the success of the exercise without any casualty, noting that the physical training would keep the officers and men fit and ready for combat at any time.

While rating the performance of the Nigerian Air Force high in the ongoing counter insurgency operation in the northeast, the AOC reminded his men of the need to always exercise themselves to enable them maintain fitness always to confront any security challenges.

At the end of the exercise, prizes were given to officers who distinguished themselves during the exercise.

The walk and jogging exercise is one of the important events in the Nigerian Air Force. It is held annually.
