Govt. Commences Palliative Measures On Calabar-Odukpani-Itu RoadThe government of Cross River State has commenced palliative measures on the Calabar-Odukpani-Itu road, which before now was rendered impassable, causing traffic gridlock.

The road, a federal highway, remained in a terrible state, subjecting motorists and other users to spend nights at the bad spots on a journey that would have taken less than an hour.

Civil Director, Cross River Ministry of Works, Engineer Godwin Akeke, said the intervention exercise of the government would continue in view of the encouraging weather so as to deliver on the mandate, as directed by the Governor, Ben Ayade.

Some commuters have lauded the government’s remedial work to ease the state’s transportation problems, saying it is a welcomed development especially as the yuletide approaches.

They, however, called on the Federal Government to stand up to its responsibilities of providing a permanent intervention.

The Calabar-Itu Federal Government road is a road linking Akwa-Ibom and other neighboring states of Rivers, Abia and a few others from Calabar, the Cross River State Capital.
