Benue-ortomA Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State’s capital, has again upheld the election of Governor Samuel Ortom of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the April 28 governorship election, Mr Terhemen Tarzor, in October, appealed against the decision of the lower Tribunal which dismissed his petition and subsequently upheld Mr Ortom.

The Appellate Court dismissed all issues formulated by the appellant, Mr Tarzor, challenging the nomination process where Governor Ortom emerged the consensus candidate of the APC.

In reaction, Governor Ortom described his victory at the Appellate Court as an act of God, who promised to make him Governor in 2015.

He made the disclosure at a meeting with his legal team and party supporters in the Government House, shortly after the court upheld his election for the second time in three months.

Interestingly, Governor Ortom lead the gathering in a worship song to return glory to God for his faithfulness against all odd during and after the election, coming from the opposition to beat the then ruling PDP in the state.
