apga-pdp-abiaThe Abia State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Emma Nwaka, has disagreed with the judgment of the Appeal Court that orders INEC to swear in APGA governorship candidate, Dr Alex Otti.

While briefing reporters in Umuahia, the state capital, Sen. Nwaka said he is yet to understand the rationale that made the judges arrived at over voting and subsequent cancellation of votes from Obingwa, Osisioma and Isialangwa North Local Government Areas, thereby denying Abia indigenes of their fundamental right to vote the candidate of their choice.

However, the State Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Augustine Ehiemere, said that his party is pleased with the Appeal Court verdict.

He denied the allegation that the party is running a parallel government, hinting that the party cannot be part of any illegality.

An Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, declared Dr Alex Otti as winner of the Abia State Governorship election.

In its ruling, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately return Dr. Otti as the rightful winner of the April election, having won majority of the votes cast during the polls.

Reactions trailed the court verdict as the people of Ukwa Ngwa from Abia South and Central local council protested the ruling.
