ayadeThe Cross River State Government has scheduled April 2016 for the commissioning of the proposed garment factory, which is expected to generate hundreds of employment to the unemployed youths in the state with widows inclusive.

The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade stated this at the site of the project when he went on an assessment tour to have a first-hand knowledge on the level of the work done at the site.

Some of the residents say it will be a dream come true if the governor sticks to the new date he has promised for the commissioning.

The project which is located along the Goodluck Jonathan Byepass in Calabar, is one of the signature projects embarked upon by the state government and when functional, will provide fabrics for the production of Uniforms of all kinds in the state.

This, according to the governor will encourage the entrepreneur skills and discourage importation which will translate to an increase in the states revenue.

The governor’s counterpart from Abia State while on a visit sued for the cooperation of the Federal Government towards encouraging signature projects that has direct positive influence on the youths.

For him, Cross River State remains a role model in terms of tourism, security and all which other states should copy from.

Speaking to a cross section of traders into garment related businesses, the establishment of the factory in the state capital, will make business more lucrative for them and also save them cost of travelling to other states to procure materials for their businesses.
