Efforts are ongoing to collate all outstanding money spent by State governments on Federal Government roads for reimbursement, the Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi, says.

While expressing satisfaction at the level and quality of job done on the projects inspected within Oyo State capital, Ibadan, on Friday, Mr Amaechi said his visit was aimed at doing a critical assessment of all Federal Government road projects executed by the state governments.

The Minister, who is also the Coordinator for the Committee for Reimbursement of cost of federal projects executed by states in the South-West, gave the assurance that despite the paucity of funds, the Buhari administration was committed to assisting states.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his cabinet members led the delegation from the Ministry of Transportation on the inspection of the newly-dualised New Garage-Odo Oba Elewe-Apata road; Azeez Arisekola road; Molete-Oke Ado-Queens Cinema road and Mokola-Sango-Ojoo road, which were federal roads constructed by the state.

The Minister said the Committee on Reimbursement of funds spent on projects by states, headed by the Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, was satisfied with the quality of works done on the inspected projects.

He further told reporters during the inspection that other federal projects spread across the state would also be inspected by a team of federal engineers.

Mr Amaechi stated that the report submitted by the engineers would receive adequate attention of the Federal Government with a view to reimbursing the state.

Welcoming the Minister in his office after the inspection, Governor Ajimobi said that he was hopeful that the Federal Government would, in the earliest possible time, reimburse the state to enable it give attention to other developmental projects lined up for the benefit of the people of the state.

After the inspection, the Ministry’s delegation moved to Ogun State for a similar exercise.
