Taiwan's earthquakeTwo people have been pulled alive from the ruins of an apartment, two days after a powerful earthquake brought down the building in Tainan City of Taiwan.

The first was a woman who officials said was found lying underneath the body of her husband. Their two-year-old son was found dead nearby.

A while later, another man was rescued. Both of them had been taken to a hospital in Tainan.

The BBC reports  that rescuers said it appeared that her husband’s body had protected her from a falling beam. Five of the couple’s family members remain missing.

At least 35 people died in the disaster.

An investigation is ongoing to find out if the construction of the building contributed to its collapse.

More than 100 people are still thought to be trapped inside.

Tainan City Mayor, William Lai, said that survivors had reported legal “violations” in its construction, but gave no further details.
