Niger-Delta-militants---amnestyTraditional rulers in the Niger-Delta have decried the resurgence of violence, destruction of oil pipelines and kidnappings of their members.

This was the position of the National Executive Council of Traditional Rulers of Oil Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROPCON) at its emergency meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Tuesday.

The National Chairman of the group, HRM Akuweze Ikegwuruka, called on the Federal Government to fast track the development of the Niger Delta region through its various state agencies.

He also pledged the group’s support to the current anti corruption fight of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The traditional rulers, however, urged the Federal Government to kick start the process of diversifying the economy in the face of dwindling crude oil prices.
