Ajimobi-Oyo StateThe Oyo State Government says it plans to partner with Police and bankers to ensure the safety of financial institutions.

The State Government says that despite the paucity of funds, it remains committed to the maintenance of peace and security in the state.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum aimed at securing the operational premises of banks and other financial institutions in the state on Tuesday, the Governor’s aide, Mr Segun Bolarinwa, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that financial institutions and major business areas are well secured against attacks.

The convener of the meeting, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyebade, noted that the meeting was necessary in the face of recent threats to banks in some states in the south west.

The meeting, according to him, would provide templates for further engagements towards achieving better security in affected areas. He added that proactive measures must be consented to by all stakeholders involved.

The bankers’ forum also asked for an increase in the deployment of armored personnel carriers to banks and also sued for quicker response time to distress calls.
