While the Joint Health Care Workers Union is accusing the government and the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) of unfair treatment, saying it is the reason for unstable services in government hospitals, the NMA claimed that the rivalry in the sector was uncalled for.

Both, however, agreed that government needed to take deliberate steps to reform the health sector for quality health care services for the citizenry.

In the last one year of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, both the Medical Doctors Associations and Members of the Joint Health Workers Union  have threatened to embark on strike, with several ultimatum given to the government.

The President of the Joint Health Workers union, Biobelemoye Josiah, is blaming both the Federal Government and the NMA for unequal treatment in the sector that has caused several industrial actions.

When the 2016 World Health Day was celebrated last month, the Minister of Health said it was an occasion for government to take stock of the nations health sector with a view to improving service delivery.

The health care practitioners have agreed that the government needed to take stock of the sector and take some deliberate but decisive actions to improve the sector.
