Academic activities at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Staff School was halted on Tuesday by the teachers, parents and pupils of the school.
This comes as the trio staged a peaceful protest to demand for payment of four months salaries of the teachers.
The Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), OAU chapter, Mr Ademola Oketunde and a teacher of the school, Mr Olagunju Oluwaseun, called on the OAU management to have a rethink on the new school fee proposed for the students.
They lamented that the fee has been increased from 1,600 Naira to 20,000 Naira for staff and 2,500 Naira to 20,500 Naira for non-staff.
They also asked the Federal Government to rescind its decision to stop funding all Federal university staff schools across Nigeria.
In a swift response, OAU management, through its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, said that the increase in school fee was to enable the school authority meet its obligation to the teachers.
